NAB Show New York Aims Light on AI, Creator Economy, and Live Production

In the background of the preparations of NAB Show New York scheduled at Javits Center on 9th and 10th October, Karen Chupka the MD and executive VP of global connections and events for NAB sat down with Terry Scutt, content director for the NAB Show Daily.

Finding Her Fit

Chupka joined NAB in January 2023 and outlined what she’s focused on during her first 10 months.

She stated that she had been learning the key aspects of NAB show New York, NAB Show in Las Vegas and the wider part of the industry. She was focused on knowing NAB’s offerings and how to make them more accessible to that incredibly diverse audience.

What Sets NAB Show New York Apart?

One of the strong advantages of NAB Show New York is where it takes place-on the East Coast, and therefore it is a golden opportunity for broadcast, media, and entertainment professionals. Chupka said, “NAB Show New York stands out by leveraging its location in the media capital of the world,” while underlining how it provides meaningful interactions and hands-on experiences with industry leaders that will allow enough opportunities to network, learn, and discover.

The distance that New York has to prominent media firms, studios, and tech houses means its event will most likely be graced with the crème de la crème of attendees, including decision-makers from ABC, NBC, and HBO. “This is the only event where leading broadcast, media, and entertainment professionals come together to benchmark and dialogue on the networked trajectory shaping their future,” Chupka added.

Trends in Attendance and New Offerings

She said that the attendees are powerful from which thirty four percent are first decision-makers and seventy-nine percent are buyers. Niche model enables for better interaction in the attendees and the exhibitors.

The event also heralded timely new content, as on October 10, the Election Coverage Summit will discuss reporting on politics, the safety of reporters, and the battle against misinformation—all of which are topics newsrooms and broadcasters need to hear and understand before the 2024 elections.

AI, Creator Economy, Live Production

While AI will certainly be rife throughout NAB Show New York, so will the creator economy and live production. Sessions will delve into how the independent creators and influencers are harnessing AI, monetization strategies and content distribution tools, to reach their audience, and extend their success as the creator economy continues to boom.

A live production context will discuss cloud-based workflows, remote production, and AI-driven real-time analytics within the context of sports. Virtual production techniques highlight their transformative effect from changes in traditional filmmaking to changing the way live sports are broadcast.

Those themes will bring NAB Show New York to life, empowering those industry professionals to carve through innovation to continue leading the curve in this ever-changing broadcast and media landscape.
