Ford Motor Company has announced a comprehensive redesign of its Maverick pickup truck for the 2025 model year, introducing significant enhancements in technology, performance, and hybrid options. Key updates include a refreshed exterior and interior design, highlighted by a 13.2-inch center touchscreen, and the addition of an all-wheel-drive hybrid variant. Connectivity features such as a 5G modem and wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are also integrated.
Since its debut in 2021, the Maverick has exceeded expectations, becoming a strong performer in Ford’s lineup. The company reported a 77% increase in production through June 2024 compared to the same period in 2023, driven by surging demand. John Emmert, Ford’s General Manager of Trucks in North America, noted that sales for the first half of 2024 are nearly equal to the full-year sales of 2023.
The Maverick is attracting a diverse customer base, with 80% of its buyers being first-time truck owners, and many purchasing their first new vehicle. The 2022 Maverick gained popularity for its fuel efficiency of up to 40 miles per gallon and an initial price around $20,000. However, the starting price for the 2025 hybrid model has risen to $26,295 due to industry-wide price increases. Todd Eckert, Ford’s Truck Product Marketing and Brand Manager, emphasized that the Maverick remains a cost-effective option, particularly given the average new vehicle price of approximately $50,000.
While Ford officials have not disclosed specific profitability details, the Maverick’s expanded offerings, including a new off-road “Tremor” package, are expected to enhance the vehicle’s market appeal and profitability. Production of the 2025 Maverick will continue at Ford’s Hermosillo assembly plant in Mexico, with orders opening on August 1 and deliveries slated for late 2024.
